Everyone has that favorite photo; maybe it's of your kids or your spouse, maybe even a beloved family pet. Why not have that picture turned into a one of a kind portrait?

Portrait
This piece looks very dark in this picture but is actually quite a bit brighter and more colorful. It was done with colored pencil on plain paper and was an 8 x 10.
Wow. These are very good. I'm curious to find out more about how long it takes you to complete a piece, as well as your method of duplicating the colors you need with colored pencils...I've always wondered about using them, but I've mostly stuck with only black graphite or charcoal. Keep drawing! :) (BTW, Mrs. Davoll's husband, here)
Well I have to say graphite and charcoal are much easier to work with as far as values and what not goes, but the colored pencils aren't too bad. It's all about layering. You have to start with light, base colors and just block in sections and then go back in and keep layering up the colors. Practice makes perfect! This piece took quite a bit longer than the others on here, i probably spent about 18-20 hours on it, but it was a bit bigger and was for a midterm assaignment so. But yea, thanks so much for your interest! The pictures of Abigail and Jonathan are coming along really well. : )
